A Court of Thorns and Roses & A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas Review

A Quick summary of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas:

A woman falls in love with a man, only to free him from his curse and reveal him for the beast he is. And then finds love with a beast cursed to hide his humanity to protect his heart and home.

This series just keeps getting better. A Court of Mist and Fury is probably one of my favourite books of all time. It was intriguing I didn't want it to end. Sarah J. Maas did a fantastic job in writing this book and it definitely didn't have that 'second book slump' that usually happens in book series.

To give a brief summary, ACOMAF is basically about ship betrayals (but in a good way) and everything you thought you knew in A Court of Thorns and Roses was all a lie. Don't let that discourage you from reading this book though because trust me, it's worth the read. I instantly fell in love with so many of the characters in ACOMAF and their different (but lovable) personalities. I also love the fact that Sarah made it realistic in a way. After all that has happened Under the Mountain, we see Feyre struggle with PTSD and also her feelings in certain relationships too.

Of course you may have figured it out that the ACOTAR series is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. In ACOMAF we originally thought Tamlin was the beast, but…

I think Rhys should be the beast, because he thinks of himself as a monster. Not because of his talons and wings, but because of all the horrible things he believes about himself, that's why he thought that Feyre would never love him.

BUT Feyre sees him for who he is. She literally says:

"You are good, Rhys. You are kind. This mask does not scare me. I see you beneath it."

Tamlin is supposed to be Gaston. Besides the fact that Gaston was introduced before the Beast, JUST as Tamlin was introduced before Rhysand, Tamlin is selfish, anti-feminist and too proud to realize it. He can't let go of the fact that Belle (Feyre) doesn’t love him, and believes that she needs to be saved from the Beast (Rhys).

Also in ACOTAR, it was Rhysand, Rhysand, who tried to kill Amarantha and save Feyre. Not Tamlin, the person who claimed to love her, the person who let her wreck herself over and over again to save him. It was Rhysand who screamed and roared in anguish as Amarantha shattered every bone in her body, as she slowly started to kill her. It was Rhysand who fought, it was Rhysand who cared.

"But I was being ripped apart from the inside out, and I thrashed unable to out-scream the pain. "Feyre!" Someone roared. No, not someone- Rhysand."

I honestly wish I could give this book 100 stars out of 5 because it is really THAT good! If you haven't read this book yet then you are definitely missing out (although I would recommend reading ACOTAR and ACOMAF if you're 17 or older as there is some content in Sarah's books that requires a mature audience).

On a Side Note:  When you're stuck in the longest book hangover ever because you keep comparing all the males to Rhys and just can't bear to leave this amazing and incredible world Sarah has created….. yeah I've been re-reading ACOMAF for about 3 months straight… I might have a slight problem....

I give BOTH books 5 out of 5 stars! Absolutely spectacular!
